We were invited by Cornes, Japan’s largest Ferrari dealer, to an exclusive event exhibiting Ferrari’s latest models, including the brand new Ferrari 296 GTB, the replacement for the F8 Tributo.
The 296 GTB is the third hybrid car Ferrari have made after the SF90 Stradale and LaFerrari. It is powered by a mid-mounted 3.0L V6 and an electric motor making a combined 819HP. This will get you from 0 to 100kmh in 2.9 seconds, achieving a top speed of 330km/h. This is the first time ever that a Ferrari is powered by a V6.
The 296 GTB is also capable of driving on the electric motor alone, and uses a brand new brake-by-wire brake system controlled through electricity.
The Ferrari 296 GTB is small and compact, weighing 1,470kg and packs a lot of power with a dual-clutch transmission and rear wheel drive, promising to be a super fun car to drive. The starting price for a 296 GTB in Japan is ¥44,638,800 (US$321,400).
