Tokyo Supercars proudly presents our drifting lesson program that we have been running since 2017! This experience takes you to an exciting drift track hidden in the mountains just an hour and a half outside of Tokyo.

Our professional instructor will teach the basics of car control, and drifting in the birthplace of the sport!  You will also learn how these techniques translate to driving safely around a circuit and even the roads. This is suitable for all levels, and beginners are welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a license to go drifting?
No license or international driving permit (IDP) is required! Just bring your enthusiasm, and we'll take care of the rest.

What is the minimum age to participate?
Participants must be at least 12 years old. Anyone under 18 will need a parent or guardian present.

What kind of car will I be driving?

You will be driving either a Mazda Miata or a Toyota GT86, depending on availability on the day of your booking. Both are lightweight, stock power, rear-wheel-drive sports cars with a manual transmission and specially tuned suspension for drifting.

Can I choose which car I’ll be driving?

You’re welcome to let us know in advance if you have a preference between the Miata and the GT86, and we’ll do our best to accommodate it. However, we can’t guarantee a specific car due to operational availability.

Where is pickup and drop-off?
Hotel pickup and drop-off in central Tokyo are included in both our half-day and full-day drift packages, making your experience as smooth and convenient as possible. If you’re staying outside central Tokyo, pickup may still be available for a small additional fee—please contact us for details.

Is insurance included for the drift car?
While insurance is not provided, any damages caused will need to be covered by the participant. That said, you’ll have an expert instructor by your side to guide you, making accidents extremely rare. In fact, in over seven years of hosting drift lessons, no participant has ever caused significant damage requiring payment!

Is there a backup car in case of mechanical issues?
Yes! In the rare event that a car experiences a problem, we have backup vehicles available to ensure your experience continues without interruption.

Can friends or family come along as spectators?

Yes! If you inform us in advance, we’ll do our best to accommodate spectators, provided there is available space in our transportation vehicle. Priority is given to drivers.

Will the instructor be in the car with me?

Yes, your instructor will be with you throughout the day and can ride alongside you to ensure you feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel.
